The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a deep depression. It is very likely to intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm during next 48 hours.
Kolkata’s mercury dropped to 16 degrees for the first time in the season, almost 2 degrees below normal! Light fog enveloped some parts of the city in the early hours of Tuesday.
However, the Met office has said that the sky will remain clear in all districts, including Kolkata, throughout the day, with no possibility of rain. The weather will remain dry throughout the day.
According to the Met Office, the depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a deep depression. Over the next 48 hours, the depression will move further north and northwest.
The possibility of it intensifying into a cyclonic storm over the south Bay of Bengal cannot be ruled out. If this cyclone forms, it will be named ‘Senyar’. The name, given by the United Arab Emirates, means lion.
Meanwhile, it is being said that there will be no impact in Odisha.
