
The Election Commission of India has said that strict action will be taken if enumeration form is filled in the name of a deceased voter. It is to be noted that SIR is being done in the state to ensure that there is no discrepancy in the voter list.
This is what the Election Commission has been consistently claiming with regard to the SIR. Efforts are being made to ensure that the names of dead Voter are deleted from the list.
According to the reports, ff at any place, it is found that someone else has filled the enumeration form in the name of the deceased voter, then the person who will fill the form will be questioned. Failing which, the commission will be bound to take legal action against everyone from the concerned DEO to the BLO.

The EC CEO said that the draft electoral roll will be released on December 9. On the other hand, the CEO also informed that there are many people who had voter cards but do not have Aadhaar cards.
Notably, the Election Commission has already obtained information regarding dead voters from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) management.
The Election Commission had sought information about the number of dead voters from all such institutions, including UIDAI, banks, which have information related to living and dead persons.
According to the 2022 Legacy Data, the number of dead Voter in the state is estimated to be around 46 lakh. However, the exact number of dead Voter will be known only after the draft electoral roll is released.
