
KOLKATA: Three persons have been arrested in Patuli area, following a raid by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police. They have been identified as Alok Nag (58), Ayan Nag (33), and Shyam Babu Paswan (36).
According to the police, Alok and Ayan are residents of Narendra Nagar, while Shyam Babu is from Titagarh in North 24 Parganas district.
A total of worth Rs 15,000 counterfeit notes seized
Police have recovered counterfeit notes worth Rs 15,000 were seized from the accused. The seized notes were in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200, and Rs 100. The accused were produced in court on Thursday and remanded to police custody until January 28.

Kolkata Police STF officials had received a tip-off that some individuals were involved in smuggling counterfeit currency in the Patuli police station area. Based on this information, the STF team increased surveillance in the area.
During the surveillance, the police apprehended three individuals. Interrogation of the accused revealed that they were printing counterfeit notes at their home using paper, a printer, and glitter pens.
STF officials are interrogating the accused to determine how much counterfeit currency they have circulated in the market.
