
SAGAR ISLAND: On the occasion of Makar Sankranti 2026 millions of devotees took holy dip on Wednesday morning at the confluence of the Hooghly river and the Bay of Bengal in West Bengal’s Sagar Island.

People coming from across the country started their holy dip early in the morning.

As the sun rises in the east, people started to take bathe and offered prayers as well as worship in the temple of Kapil Muni ashram.

Kapil Muni Ashram was decorated with the lightings on this occasion.

A sea of devotees was seen taking holy dip at the confluence.

NDRF conducted underwater ROV patrolling at Lot 8, in which specialized equipment was used for real-time sub-surface monitoring to enhance disaster response and public safety.

First Aid Post & Ambulance Service at Gangasagar Mela Ground was also setup.
