ISRO’s NavIC technology is to be used for crowd management and security arrangements in the upcoming Gangasagar Mela. According to the reports, more than one crore devotees are expected to attend the Gangasagar Mela this year.

ISRO’s NavIC system, which comprises a constellation of seven Indian satellites and a network of ground stations, provides accurate location and timing information. The South 24 Parganas district administration will use this technology for real-time crowd tracking at the fair, enabling effective crowd management and quick response in emergency situations.
Over 1200 CCTV cameras and a GPS-guided intelligent crowd monitoring system have been deployed for crowd management. Security agencies will continuously monitor crowd movements.
Barricades have been erected across a 54-kilometer area to regulate the movement of devotees. Additionally, 10,000 volunteers from 150 NGOs will be involved in crowd management and providing health assistance.

More than 2500 buses will transport devotees from various locations. Sixteen buffer zones have been created along the route from Babu Ghat to Gangasagar to ensure smooth traffic flow.
For the convenience of devotees, a combined single-ticket system is being implemented for travel between Kolkata/Howrah and Lot-8/Kachuberia, making the journey more convenient.
Meanwhile, twenty-one jetties will be operational during the fair. In addition, 13 barges (with a capacity of 1000 to 2500 passengers), 45 steamers, and 100 launches will be deployed for transporting devotees from Lot-8 and Namkhana.
