Gangasagar Mela is scheduled to start on January 10, and it would continue until January 17. The main auspicious bathing day will be on Makar Sankranti that is January 14.
Somedays back, West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant chaired a high-level meeting at the state secretariat to review arrangements for the upcoming Gangasagar Mela.
The key discussion points included foolproof safety and emergency services, arrangement of uninterrupted water and electricity supply, setting up additional passenger shelters and buffer zones in anticipation of a high turnout of pilgrims.
