Kolkata Police Half Marathon: Routes to Be Open for Vehicles Amid Traffic Restrictions!

KOLKATA: The Kolkata Police Half Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 18th. ​​For the event, traffic will be regulated on several prominent roads. The main objective of this marathon is to reinforce the Safe Drive Save Life campaign

Be sure to find out which roads will be closed, and which will remain open, before you move on Kolkata roads.

Roads to be prohibited for all types of goods vehicles from 4 AM to 12 PM.

  • RR Avenue
  • AJC Bose Road
  • Esplanade
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Road
  • Dufferin Road
  • Mayo Road

The following roads may have traffic restrictions from 4 AM to 12 PM.

  • Khidirpur Road
  • Casuarina Avenue
  • Lovers Lane
  • Queens Way
  • Hospital Road
  • RR Avenue
  • AJC Flyover
  • Maa Flyover
  • Esplanade
  • Ghora Pass
  • Mayo Road
  • Shakespeare Sarani
  • Circus Avenue
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Road
  • Outram Road

Traffic would be closed or diverted for the following roads

Red Road will be closed from 10 PM on Saturday to 12 PM on Sunday. Southbound vehicles on Red Road will be diverted to Kingsway-Strand Road.

Vehicles from Maa Flyover towards Park Circus Seven Point Crossing will be diverted via Suhrawardy Avenue, Darga Road, Number Four Rail Bridge, and Park Circus Connector.

Eastbound vehicles on AJC Bose Road will be diverted via AJC Road and DL Khan Road crossing, then via DL Khan Road-SN Pandit Crossing-Harish Mukherjee/ATM Road, and northbound vehicles will have to take Belvedere Road to AJC Bose Road.

Southbound vehicles will have to go via Old Court House Street to Esplanade East Crossing. The road at Esplanade will be closed. Vehicles will have to go via Hastings Crossing, then via St. Georges Gate Road-Strand Road-Kingsway.

Parking to be prohibited from 4:30 AM until the marathon ends on the following roads

  • Khidirpur Road
  • Hospital Road
  • JL Nehru Road
  • Shakespeare Sarani
  • Casuarina Avenue
  • Lovers Lane
  • Queens Way
  • Outram Road
  • Shakespeare Sarani
  • Circus Avenue
