
Kolkata is in news, but for some weird reason. In a recent survey the City of Joy has led the list of Indian cities with the slowest traffic in 2024-25. The survey was done by the Tom’s Traffic Index.
Last year Bengaluru was leading the list, but this time Kolkata has overtaken the Karnataka capital.
In Kolkata, average time to cover 10 km being 34 minutes and 33 seconds. Whereas in Bengaluru average time to cover 10 km, now standing at 34 minutes and 10 seconds.

The TomTom Traffic Index ranked Indian cities based on average travel times over a standardized 10-kilometer distance.
