Kolkata’s Air Quality Worsens as City Turns Colder

As the temperature dipped in Kolkata, the air quality has worsened further. A thick smog full of pollution has gripped the City of Joy.

Air quality is categorized as poor with an AQI of 296 and the condition may further worsen in coming days and weeks. However, it was sunny day today, conditions are not considered ideal for outdoor activities.

Residents living in areas like Shyambazar in North Kolkata were gasping for fresh air.

Reports say that today PM2.5 levels in Kolkata were 98 µg/m³ on average, higher than the WHO recommended daily limit of 15 µg/m³.

Meanwhile, netizens have come forward demanding action against the poor air quality of the city.

At 6 AM today, Kolkata had the worst AQI in India.
But guess what? Delhi took all the headlines again.

Air pollution isn’t a “Delhi problem.”
It’s a national crisis
