Raj Bhavan’s name was changed to Lok Bhavan on Saturday; however, the change of name has brought a controversy. According to the media reports, Raj Bhavan’s has been changed to Lok Bhavan without the permission of the state government.
For a long time, allegations of running parallel rule from Raj Bhavan have been leveled against the Governors of Bengal.
On Saturday, Trinamool spokesperson and party state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said about the name change to Raj Bhavan.
Kunal Ghosh said:
“Raj Bhavan is Lok Bhavan. Keeping in mind the 2026 elections, it started with Bengal. The notification to make Raj Bhavan Lok Bhavan was for the whole country. So why is it first in Bengal. Does that mean the Governor wants parallel administration?”
It is to be noted that the order to change the name of Raj Bhavan came a few days ago from the Union Home Ministry. After the order came on November 25, it was implemented in Bengal on Saturday.
The name of Raj Bhavan was changed for the first time in West Bengal.
