KOLKATA: After a gap of around fifteen years, the Kolkata Metro has reintroduced its return ticket facility in Kolkata. This move is aimed to reduce queues and ease daily commuter travel. For this, QR–based paper tickets will be issued.

According to the Metro officials, the commuters can now purchase a return ticket directly from ticket counters. It would be issued in the form of QR code–based paper tickets, which have been in use since January 1, 2025.
Officials believe that this move would cut down long queues, especially during peak hours, as passengers will no longer need to buy separate tickets their return journeys.
