The West Bengal government has finally accepted Waqf Amendment Act on Friday (28th November 2025) after months of delaying.

Media reports said that all the district Magistrates have been directed to upload all registered Waqf property data on central portal before December deadline.
Media reports cited experts saying since the Supreme Court did not issue a complete stay on the Waqf Amendment Act, all states are bound to comply with it.
The deadline ends on December 5 and before that all registered Waqf property details across the country needs to be uploaded on the central portal ‘umeedminority.gov.in’.
Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP has reacted on this news sharply.
Talking to the media people, senior BJP leader Rahul Sinha said:
“…Though it’s late, the state government did a good thing. The Waqf Bill was passed long ago and should have been accepted. It was delayed. The reason is that some wealthy Muslims had usurped all the property of poor Muslims. The state government’s acceptance of this Waqf Bill will benefit the poor. Poor Muslims will benefit from the property which was seized by some wealthy Muslims in the name of Waqf…”
