
KOLKATA: The prestigious Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival (KICFF) is going to start on January 23. It would end on January 29. The aim of the festival is to foster creativity among children and introduce them to the diverse cultures of world cinema.
The theme for KICFF 2026 is “Children’s Imagination and Human Values.”
The event is being organized jointly by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of West Bengal and the Children’s Film Society, West Bengal.

This year, the festival will showcase more than 200 children’s films from approximately 35 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, including India. These include feature films, short films, animations, and documentaries.
The films will be screened in several auditoriums, including Nandan complex, Rabindra Sadan, Shishir Mancha, and Star Theatre.
Free screenings have also been arranged for children from rural and underprivileged backgrounds. In addition, film production workshops, animation training, a poster design competition, and interactive sessions with international filmmakers will also be arranged.
At the closing ceremony, various awards will be presented, including those for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Child Actor.
