KOLKATA: There won’t be any USA pavilion in the 49th International Kolkata Book Fair 2026, as there is no funding for the participation, reports claimed.
The USA pavilion used to be a key attraction in the Kolkata Book Fair’s earlier edition, but this time visitors won’t get any chance to witness the same.
The US first entered the IKBF in 2006 and has been a regular participant since then. Bangladesh is also set to miss out due to geopolitical tensions.

49th International Kolkata Book Fair 2026 is scheduled for January 22 to February 3, 2026, at Boimela Prangan, Salt Lake.
The fair is set to feature over 1,000 stalls from both Indian and international publishers.
Argentina has been named the focal theme country for the book fair. Kolkata Book Fair is recognised by the International Publishers Association (IPA), Geneva and the fair is considered the world’s largest book fair by footfall.
